ICEMED Final Joint Meeting, Nov 7-8, 2017 in Leipzig

ICEMED Final Joint Meeting, Nov 7-8, 2017 in Leipzig The ICEMED alliance is a unique and outstanding scientific collaboration. At the Final ICEMED Meeting on Nov 7-8, 2017, all work package leaders of the alliance are asked to present their scientific highlight stories of the last 5 years, made possible by ICEMED. They are also asked to provide information on collaboration among disciplines and interactions among clinicians, metabolic and imaging scientists within the frame of ICEMED. ICEMED Junior scientists will have the chance to present data they have generated in the frame of ICEMED within a Blitz Data session on the evening before the Final meeting (Nov 7). We are very pleased and honored that also members of the ICEMED Scientific Advisory Board - international renowned experts on the research fields Metabolism and Imaging - will join the meeting in Leipzig. On Nov 8, the ICEMED Final Meeting will take...

5th Helmholtz-Nature Medicine Diabetes Conference

Time: 17.09.17|09:00 - 19.09.17|17:00 Place: Lenbach Palais Ottostraße 6 80333 Munich Our fifth, high impact conference brings together international top leaders in the field of diabetes to facilitate the identification of, and potential solutions to, the preeminent scientific challenges facing the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. Moreover the conference will feature two award presentations: the Helmholtz Diabetes Lecture, in recognition of the lifetime achievements of a senior leader in the field, and the Helmholtz Young Investigator in Diabetes Award (HeIDi), in recognition of a rising star. Every year, this conference series integrates research reports on essential scientific questions in urgent need of a breakthrough. In 2017, we will focus on continuing and emerging hot topic areas including the molecular basis of exercise benefits, beta-cell regeneration, adipocyte biology and novel links connecting cellular energy metabolism with ageing. The online registration is now open Organizers Matthias Tschöp (Helmholtz Zentrum München,...

Tissue Clearing Workshop

July 17-20 2017 Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD) Feodor-Lynen-Str. 17, 81377 Munich I would like to invite you to our upcoming tissue clearing workshop in Munich. In this workshop, we will cover various topics in tissue clearing by hands-on training from optimization of clearing for the tissue of interest, light-sheet microscopy imaging to 3D visualization and quantification. We will show how to immunolabel and clear whole organs (e.g., adult mouse/rat brains) and organisms (whole mouse). This is also an opportunity for groups to try their first clearing experiments on their samples with the experts here. Our keynote speaker during the workshop will be Alain Chedotal (Inserm, Paris), whose lab just published a whole human embryo antibody labelling and mapping work using 3DISCO/iDISCO (Bella et al., 2017 Cell, http://www.cell.com/fulltext/S0092-8674(17)30287-8).
